What Is Equipment Restoration?

Equipment restoration is the process of stripping corroded, contaminated, or worn coatings from industrial machinery and applying a fresh, protective finish. Quad Cities Blasting & Industrial Coatings Group uses abrasive blasting, dry ice blasting, and dustless blasting to clean equipment to SSPC standards, then recoats with industrial-grade primers, epoxies, and topcoats built to withstand the harshest environments.

  • Removes rust, scale, old paint, and chemical contamination
  • Achieves SSPC SP-10 Near-White or SP-5 White Metal profiles
  • Extends equipment service life by 10-20 years
  • Reduces downtime with efficient on-site or in-shop blasting
  • Recoated with zinc-rich primers, epoxy, and urethane topcoats

Abrasive Blasting

Steel grit, garnet & aluminum oxide, maximum surface profile for heavy rust and thick coatings.

Dry Ice Blasting

CO₂ pellet blasting, no secondary waste, no moisture, safe for sensitive electrical and precision components.

Dustless Blasting

Water-suppressed abrasive blasting, eliminates airborne dust for enclosed spaces and dust-sensitive environments.

The Process

How Equipment Restoration Works

01

Inspection & Assessment

We evaluate the equipment condition, identify corrosion levels, and recommend the right blasting method and coating system for your specific application and environment.

02

Surface Preparation

Using abrasive, dry ice, or dustless blasting, we strip the surface to the specified SSPC cleanliness level, removing all rust, mill scale, old coatings, and contaminants.

03

Coating Application

We apply industrial-grade coating systems, zinc-rich primers, epoxy intermediates, and urethane or polyurea topcoats, engineered for your operating conditions and service life requirements.

Method Selection

Cleaning Methods by Equipment Type

Right Method. Right Result. Every Time.

Abrasive Blasting

Abrasive

Steel grit, garnet, or aluminum oxide blasting for heavy rust, mill scale, and thick coating removal. Achieves SSPC SP-10 and SP-5 profiles on structural steel, tanks, and heavy machinery.

Dry Ice Blasting

Dry Ice

Non-abrasive CO₂ pellet blasting for sensitive electrical components, motors, and precision equipment. No secondary waste, no moisture, ideal for in-place cleaning without disassembly.

Dustless Blasting

Dustless

Water-suppressed abrasive blasting that eliminates airborne dust. Perfect for enclosed spaces, food-grade equipment, and environments where dust control is critical.

Hydro Blasting

Hydro

High-pressure water blasting for removing loose coatings, chemical residue, and biological contamination from tanks, vessels, and processing equipment without abrasive media.
