Culvert sealing is the trenchless rehabilitation of deteriorated culverts, drainage pipes, and stormwater structures using spray-applied elastomeric coatings. Instead of costly excavation and replacement, our hybrid polyurea/polyurethane systems seal cracks, stop infiltration, and restore structural integrity from the inside, extending service life by 20+ years at 30-60% of replacement cost.
- No excavation, minimal traffic disruption
- 30-60% cost savings vs. full culvert replacement
- 20+ year extended service life
- Seals active leaks and infiltration points
- Restores structural integrity to deteriorated pipe
- Works on concrete, corrugated metal, and HDPE culverts
Key Advantages
OSHA CONFINED-SPACE CERTIFIED
Safe entry crews for any culvert diameter
The Process
HOW CULVERT SEALING WORKS
Inspection & Cleaning
CCTV inspection documents existing condition. High-pressure water jetting removes debris, sediment, and loose material from the culvert interior.
Surface Preparation
Abrasive blasting or mechanical scarification prepares the substrate. Cracks and voids are filled with hydraulic cement or polyurethane grout before coating.
Elastomeric Coating Application
Hybrid polyurea/polyurethane elastomeric coating spray-applied to specified thickness. Seamless membrane bonds to the substrate and seals all penetrations.
System Selection
CULVERT REHABILITATION SYSTEMS
We select the right rehabilitation system based on culvert material, diameter, condition, and service environment.
Structural rehabilitation
High-build hybrid polyurea applied at 125-250 mils for structural reinforcement of severely deteriorated culverts.
Crack & joint sealing
Flexible urethane coating that bridges cracks and joints, accommodating minor movement without cracking.
Void filling & infiltration control
Expanding polyurethane grout injected behind the pipe wall to fill voids and stop active water infiltration.
Concrete culvert restoration
Epoxy mortar trowel-applied to restore section loss in concrete culverts before topcoat application.
